UAE gets on board with Iran bank sanctions
    Hong Kong Herald
    Thursday 9th September, 2010

The UAE has frozen some Iranian bank accounts.

The central bank in the United Arab Emirates has revealed four Iranian bank accounts are being held, in line with a United Nations Security Council blacklist.

The accounts were uncovered in the UAE banking system last week.

40 entities and one individual are on a blacklist of firms whose assets worldwide are to be frozen because they have assisted Iran’s nuclear or missile programs.

51 banks operating in the country have now been asked to to step up security on accounts listed by the Security Council.
